Recovery Through The Arts - Invitation

In observance of May’s Mental Health Month, View Point Health’s New Rock Day Services Program,  located on 101 Kirkland Road in Covington, Georgia, will be participating in various community outreach events to raise awareness regarding mental health in the community. An estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older or about one in four adults suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. However, there is treatment available to assist them in living successful and productive lives. The first step in being connected to services is education and screening.   New Rock has planned several community activities that will aid in community awareness efforts. Please join us on May 1, 2013 between the hours of 10am-11:30 am on the Square in Downtown Covington to participate in an informational activity. Various speakers will be in attendance sharing their recovery stories and providing information on the importance of mental health awareness.  Artistic expression is an important part of recovery as it serves as a healthy outlet for emotions. This will be apparent on May 1 – 27, 2013 as works of art are displayed at the Porter Memorial Branch Library.  An art display reception will be held in the Porter Memorial Branch on May 15, 2015 from 5:30pm-7:30pm with light refreshments.
